Dirk Jan van Veldhuisen is Professor of cardiology and has served as Chairman of the department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center Groningen since 2001. He has had his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Rotterdam and Groningen, the Netherlands.
Dirk J. van Veldhuisen is Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiology since 2001. He received his training in Groningen and Rotterdam, and is an Established Investigator of the Netherlands Heart Foundation since 1997. His main research focus is Heart Failure, and he has been the Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Heart Failure. At the UMCG, an outcome trial with digoxin (DECISION) is currently being conducted (results expected end of 2025), of which he is the Principal Investigator.
