Erik Lipšic studied medicine in Bratislava, Slovakia, and earned his PhD in cardiology in 2006 at the University of Groningen. He underwent training in cardiology at the University Medical Center Groningen, subsequently specializing in interventional cardiology. His clinical focus encompasses complex coronary and transcatheter valve interventions. Since 2014, he has been serving as the Head of Cardiac Catheterization Department. His research is dedicated to the preservation of left ventricular function post-myocardial infarction and predicting the optimal response to various interventions in specific patient populations. Lipšic leads and participates in numerous investigator-initiated national and international trials (e.g. GIPS-IV, TRACE-NL, UNLOAD-CHIP, iMODERN) and also phase II to IV innovative studies in the field of interventional cardiology.
